This basement in the Highland Park neighborhood  had a beautiful transformation!

  • Added an egress window on the South wall for more natural light
  • Added a gas-insert fireplace (Fireside Hearth and Home) with completely custom mantle
  • Installed hardwood flooring
  • Renovated bathroom area with electric in-floor heat under travertine tile, custom vanity and marble top, and custom shelf to hide the water meter
  • Updated most of the home’s plumbing while the lines were accessible for increased water pressure!

Planter Box

This is a planter box that I made for a family in Lauderdale for their vegetable garden.  It is 16′ x 20′ and about 16″ tall.

Marvin Windows

Posted: November 30th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

This was another Fall project in Minneapolis.  The addition on the back of this home had older casement windows that made the room feel like a 3-season porch more than the informal dining room that it is.  The homeowners wanted to match the other windows in the home that had been installed during a past remodel.  These windows are a high-quality Marvin with true grids (not the snap-in type) that I ordered through Shaw/Stewart Lumber Co.  By going with double hung windows along with the grids, it really makes the room feel warmer and more connected with the rest of the home.  I also did a single double hung window over the kitchen sink at the same time.

Entry Stairs – EcoLife Decking

Posted: November 30th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

This staircase was put in place of a concrete stoop that was crumbling away.  The homeowners picked out EcoLife Decking, which is an “earth-friendly” pressure-treated material.  My favorite thing about this material is that it is VERY CLEAR (knots are very hard to find).  The railing is an iron system called Fortress Iron.  It is a beautiful product and really creates a clean look.

Bathroom Tile

I did this tile job for a family by Lake Como.  The tile is  Travertine and the accent tiles are Onyx, both purchased from Stone and Tile in Roseville.

Deck and Fence in Eden Prairie

This deck was done using ChoiceDeck sold at Lowes.  The railing is also ChoiceDeck with architectural aluminum balusters.  The fence is a custom lattice designed by the homeowners and constructed out of cedar.
